RuIN

An event management platform for discovering, creating, and sharing local events.

RuIN

Web Platform

Context

RuIN is a personal project — a full-stack event management platform where users can discover upcoming events, create their own, and share them. Built with a Java/Spring Boot backend, MySQL persistence, and a React frontend with Material-UI. Deployed via Docker Compose.

role

Built the complete platform end-to-end as a personal project — backend, frontend, database design, and containerized deployment.

The Product

RuIN is an event management platform where users can discover upcoming events in their area, create their own, and share them with others. The idea was born from the need for a simple, local-first event discovery tool — no social clutter, just events that matter.

It was the first end-to-end product I shipped independently — from database design to frontend, from deployment pipeline to user-facing features. A personal milestone in building complete systems alone.

Engineering

The backend is a Java 9 / Spring Boot REST API with Hibernate ORM against MySQL. It handles user authentication, event CRUD, search, and sharing workflows.

The frontend is built with React and Material-UI, consuming the REST API. The full stack is containerized with Docker Compose for reproducible local development and deployment.
